Germany: Gas reserves at 69% – Consumption decreases – Costs increase

According to BILD’s calculations, an average household that paid 960 euros last year will have to pay 2002 euros.

In the 69% occupancy has been reached of tanks natural gas of Germany ahead of winter, while the German households are already saving energy. However, providers are preparing to pass it on to their customers increased cost.

According to the head of the Federal Network Agency Klaus Müller, natural gas storage has reached 69%, despite the much reduced volume that Russia is now delivering. Every day, he noted, about 0.4 percentage points are added to storage.

Energy consumption, on the other hand, decreased in Germany in the first half of the year by 3.5% compared to the corresponding period last year, while especially natural gas consumption was reduced by 15%. The decrease is attributed on the one hand to the increased prices and on the other hand to the relatively high temperatures.

In Cologne, however, customers of one of the largest energy providers will be asked to pay 2.3 times more for natural gas from October 1. The company RheinEnergie announced today the new tariff, with the kilowatt hour now costing 18.30 cents compared to 7.87 it cost last year. According to BILD’s calculations, an average household that paid 960 euros last year will have to pay 2002 euros.
