A father who was seriously injured in the crash, killing his wife, four children and two others, died days after other family members were killed.

Thomas Dovos, 32, died early Wednesday in an accident at Loyola Medical Center in Illinois, according to the Cook County coroner’s office.

“Today we are sad to bring you an update on Tom. Tom got his angel wings and is now with his amazing wife Lauren and their precious children,” he and his family said. I read Wednesday’s update on the GoFundMe page.

Thomas was airlifted to the Jane Adams Memorial Expressway near Riley around 2:00 a.m. Sunday. Five other people in the truck, his wife Lauren Dovos, 31, four children and a fifth son who was his friend, died at the scene.

Jennifer Fernandez, 22, who drove her Acura TSX backwards on the freeway and collided with a pickup truck, was also pronounced dead at the scene.

The children who died were between 5 and 13 years old. According to the GoFundMe page, they were siblings Ella, Lucas, Nicholas, Emma, ​​and Emma’s friend Katie.

Lauren was the cheerleading coach for the Oriole Park Falcons, a junior league soccer team in Northwest Chicago. The whole family was deeply involved in a fun community.

The GoFundMe page had raised more than $97,000 as of Wednesday night.
