His vehicle was driving south through Elkhart County around 12:30 yesterday when a vehicle traveling in the opposite direction crossed the center line.

The car’s driver, Edith Schumacher, 56, of Napanee, Indiana, also died at the scene.

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy tweeted a statement following news of the death.

“The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office has notified Jack’s husband, Dean Swihart, that Jack was killed in a car accident this afternoon. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

A Republican, Warorski has been representing Indiana’s Second District since 2013. A native of South Bend, he was elected to the House of Representatives in 2012 and has served three terms in the Indiana State House of Representatives. Warorski is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, and last year McCarthy named him the Republican leader of the Ethics Committee.
