One injured in the bombing of the Zaporizhia station – “By luck” a nuclear accident was avoided

The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) yesterday expressed serious concerns about Friday’s bombing of Zaporizhia in Ukraine, saying the action highlights the risk of a nuclear disaster.

THE Ukrainian nuclear power company Energoatom announced today that one worker was injured, when the Russian forces bombed the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant againthe largest in Europe, on Saturday night.

The site was affected by rocket attacksEnergoatom reported on messaging app Telegram.

The Zaporizhia factory was occupied by Russian forces in the first stage of the war, but is still operated by Ukrainian technicians.

Both sides accused each other on Saturday of engaging in “nuclear terrorism”.

Energoatom blamed Russia for the damage to the plantwhile the Russian Defense Ministry blamed Ukrainian forces for the bombing, saying it was a radioactive leak avoided only by chance.
