The Group of Seven also expresses its deep concern over the serious threat posed by the Russian military to “the security” of Ukrainian nuclear facilities
The Group of Seven (G7) most developed industrialized countries today accused Moscow of “endangering” the Ukrainian region around the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, which has been seized by Russian troops, and demanded that control of the nuclear plant be returned in Ukraine.
“We demand that Russia immediately return full control of the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant to its rightful sovereign owner, Ukraine“, the G7 writes in a statement released by Germany, which chairs the group. “Russia’s continued control of the station is what endangers the region,” he asserts.
“Ukrainian personnel operating the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant must continue to perform their duties without threats or pressure“, the G7 still estimates.
The Group of Seven also expresses its “deep concern over the serious threat” posed by the Russian military to “the security” of Ukrainian nuclear facilities.
The occupation of these facilities by Moscow’s troops “significantly increases the risk of an accident or a nuclear incident” and “endangers the population of Ukraine, neighboring states and the international community,” according to the same source.
