Ukraine has warned in recent days of the danger of a Chernobyl-sized nuclear disaster.
For tragedy to Zaporizhia nuclear power plant warns Kyiv.
Ukraine’s interior minister said on Thursday that his country must be prepared for any scenario at the Russian-held Zaporizhia nuclear power plant under shelling, including evacuating people from the area.
Ukraine and Russian-installed local officials today blamed each other for fresh bombings at the nuclear power plant – the largest in Europe – located in southern Ukraine.
“The station is as of today not only in the hands of the enemy, but in the hands of untrained specialists who could possibly allow a tragedy to happen,” Interior Minister Denis Monastirsky said in an interview with Reuters.
“Of course, it’s hard to imagine the magnitude of the tragedy that could happen if the Russians continue their actions there,” he said.
Ukraine has warned in recent days of the risk of a nuclear disaster the size of Chernobyl.
“That means for us that … we have to prepare for any scenario. The state emergency services together with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Regions are discussing various scenarios that are needed, including the issue of the evacuation of areas,” Monastirski said.
