The bride wrote her story on a Reddit forum.
It went viral woman which annulled her marriage because her partner took off the menu all the options for vegan food and even behind her back.
She herself wrote her story in Reddit. “My fiancé (31 male) and I (25 female) are getting married soon,” she wrote in the original post. “We didn’t disagree on many things during the wedding planning, except for the food. Me and my family are vegans and there are so many reasons why we chose this lifestyle and one of them is that we have a history of health problems. My fiance and his family are the complete opposite. They’re die-hard meat eaters, which is fine by me apparently.”
The woman explained that she wanted to add four or five vegan options to the menu, but her fiance objected, saying it was a “waste of money” and “not real food.” “I refused to argue about it and said it was final,” he wrote. “The other day, I found out he had canceled all vegan options and taken them off the menu completely and behind my back. I was boiling. I called him at work but he hung up on me. I went straight to his workplace and confronted him there. He was stunned to see me. At first he said it was his mom’s idea and then he told me to go home because I was making a scene in the office.”
The woman described how the fight continued at home, where her fiance “defended himself by saying I forced him to do this as I continued to dismiss his thoughts and opinion and refuse to host his family”.
“But there were a LOT of meat options. Why can’t I have four or five vegan options? He shouted that it was his wedding too, not (just) my family’s,” he wrote.
In a later update, she said his mother texted her to defend her son’s decision, saying he was “responsible for making this move because of my continued refusal to see how these things are a waste of money.”
After these scenes the bride-to-be returned to the forum with a new complaint to say that their discussion “didn’t go well” and the wedding was called off.
“Realizing that my partner himself thinks it’s okay to prioritize other people and their opinions over me was really something that upset me and not something that could be put in the past,” she said. “I gave him the ring back and canceled everything. I just couldn’t imagine myself living like this anymore.”
At the same time, it sent a message to everyone to recognize the red flags in a relationship as early as possible and leave it before it’s too late.
