Michigan: The fugitive parents of the 15-year-old who killed 4 of his classmates are wanted

Police are searching for the parents of the teenager who killed four of his classmates in a Michigan high school, hours after they were prosecuted for negligent homicide because they bought their son a gun as a Christmas present, ignoring the warning signs.

An arrest warrant has been issued for James and Jennifer Crabley. They were summoned to appear in court today, three days after their son, 15-year-old Ethan, was prosecuted.

Auckland County Sheriff Michael Butchard told CNN that police were looking for them after their lawyer told them the Krambley had stopped responding to his messages.

“If they think they’re going to get away, it’s not going to happen,” the sheriff said, adding that “a number” of detectives and FBI agents were looking for them.

Four days before the attack on the school, Ethan accompanied his father to a local gun shop, where James Crumbley bought the semi-automatic weapon. Later that day, Ethan posted photos of the gun on social media, writing: “I just got my new beauty today.” The next day his mother wrote that the two of them “try his new Christmas present”.

Michigan law prohibits anyone under the age of 18 from buying or possessing a firearm. Some exceptions are only made in the case of licensed hunters, provided they are supervised by an adult.

“The allegations (against the parents) are intended to hold those responsible for the tragedy accountable, but also to send a message: that gun owners have a responsibility,” said Oakland Attorney General Karen McDonald.
