The embassy issued a security alert in Ukraine
The US Embassy in Kyiv called again American citizens to leave the country if they can, warning of an increased possibility of Russian military strikes against Ukraine in the coming days, as tomorrow, Wednesday, marks the anniversary of the country’s independence.
“The State Department has information that Russia is increasing efforts to launch strikes in the coming days against Ukrainian civilian infrastructure and government facilities.”the embassy said in an urgent message on its website.
“The U.S. Embassy urges U.S. citizens to depart Ukraine now using privately available ground transportation options if it is safe to do so,” the advisory said, repeating advice included in previous security warnings.
Kyiv has banned public celebrations in the capital for the anniversary of independence from Soviet rule tomorrow, Wednesday, citing an increased threat of attack.
