A judge of Brazil’s Federal Supreme Court (STF) on Friday ordered another investigation into President Zaich Bolsonaro for spreading false information linking the Covid-19 vaccine to AIDS.
The ruling by Judge Alexandre de Moraes, a member of Brazil’s highest judicial body, responds to a request by a Senate committee that accused the head of state in October of serious crimes during the pandemic, and the new inquiry adds five others which have been opened against Bolsonaro, so far to no avail.
The subject of this new investigation is a video in which the far-right president allegedly cites official reports from the British government that “indicate” that those fully vaccinated against coronavirus develop AIDS “much faster than expected”.
This information was denied by the British government and the Brazilian Society for Infectious Diseases, among other medical organizations.
The video was removed from Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. In fact, both Facebook and Twitter suspended Bolsonaro’s account for a week.
In August, the Federal Supreme Court decided to launch an investigation against Bolsonaro for the offenses of “slander” and “incitement to crime” in a case related to the questioning of Brazil’s e-voting system.
The president’s other investigations are under way to determine if he interfered in the affairs of his family members, the federal police, or even because he shared on social media a secret police report on an alleged attack on him. of the electoral system.
Less than a year before the presidential election, the 66-year-old president’s popularity has never been so low.
