Satellite image from last Sunday, showing Russian armored vehicles just 60 meters from reactor 5 of the nuclear power plant of Zaporizhia, and not much further than reactors 6 and 4, Britain’s Ministry of Defense said on Thursday.

“There are risks to the functions of the reactor” the Ministry of Defense warns Britain,

“In early March, Russian ground forces attacked and captured the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). On August 21, 2022, photos showed Russia maintaining an enhanced military presence at the site, with armored personnel carriers deployed within 60 meters of reactor number five. “Russian troops were probably trying to hide the vehicles by parking them under metal structures and pipes,” comments London.

“THE Russia is probably ready to take advantage any Ukrainian military activity near the ZNPP for propaganda purposes. While Russia maintains military occupation of the ZNPP, the main risks to reactor operations are disruption to the reactor cooling systems, damage to the backup power supply or errors by workers operating under pressure,” the British ministry warns.

The director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the director of Russia’s Atomic Energy Agency met on Wednesday to discuss an inspection of the nuclear plant, Ukraine’s largest, which has been bombed several times.

THE Russia and Ukraine blamed each other once again on Tuesday, during a meeting of the UN Security Council, that they are endangering the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, while an official of the organization called on them to stop all military activity around it.

The two countries say they are ready to allow a team of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors access to the nuclear plant, but no mission is currently planned.
