A batch of thyme honey found to contain residues of the pharmacologically active substance metronidazole has been withdrawn from the market by the Unified Food Control Agency.
In particular, EFET and in particular the Regional Directorate of Attica, in the context of investigating a complaint, found the existence of residues of the pharmacologically active substance metronidazole, which is not allowed to be present in honey.
This is the product: “Thyme Honey” with the trade name “Genesis fragrance”, which is produced and packaged in Greece for “Genesis Eklekta Produkti SA”, in a package of net weight 900 grams, with a minimum shelf life date of 01/02/2024 and lot number LOT 220201.
EFET demanded the immediate recall of the above batch and the relevant controls are already underway. At the same time, it calls on consumers who have purchased the specific product not to consume it.
