Ukrainian-controlled regions and cities in the eastern provinces are constantly bombarded by Russia and pro-Russian separatists.
THE Ukraine plans to increase the number of areas on the war fronts which will be compulsorily evacuatedas they may be occupied and face heating problems in the winter, a deputy prime minister said today.
The mandatory evacuation campaign began in July from eastern Donetsk and was implemented this month. Ukrainian-controlled regions and cities in the eastern provinces are constantly bombarded by Russia and pro-Russian separatists.
“If they stay there, the world will suffer, especially the children”said Irina Veresuk, announcing on television the extension of the program.
He explained that priority will be given to the removal of mothers with children and the elderly in some areas of eastern Kharkiv and the Zaporizhia and Mykolife regions in the south.
“I’m not talking about the whole provinces but in some places a mandatory evacuation will be required and we are preparing for that,” Veresuk added. He urged the residents not to resist, explaining that they are facing the threat of Russian occupation. “I know very well what the enemy can do to force people to cooperate. This is why I so often call for evacuations and call on people not to hope that the enemy will show them mercy and (…) respect international humanitarian law. That won’t happen”he added.
