The former head of Royal Protection at the Metropolitan Police said on the 25th anniversary of the tragic crash that he had expressed serious concerns about the princess’s visit to France

Exactly 25 years after the fatal car accident in which she lost her life princess diana, many questions remain unanswered.

On that fateful day of August 31, a former head of Royal Protection at the Metropolitan Police said that Princess Diana she would still be alive today if he was responsible for her safety at the time the accident occurred.

Dy Davies was appointed Unit Commander responsible for Royal Protection for the Queen and the Royal Family in 1995 and worked closely with Princess Diana before her death.

Speaking on GB News Breakfast today, he said he had raised “serious concerns” about the itinerary of Diana’s trip to France and that the princess would still be alive today if his officers were in Paris.

The princess’ life was cut short at the age of 36 when the Mercedes she and her boyfriend Dodi Fayed were traveling in crashed into a pillar in the Alma underpass in Paris during a chase as the pair tried to avoid paparazzi.

“There are many thoughts going through my mind as we approach the anniversary. The first is that if my officers were watching her in Paris, this would never have happened“, Dai said characteristically.

He continued: “I wish I could say a lot more about my own thoughts and my own advice to the royal family before they go to the Fayette family for their holiday, but I can’t.”

He said he had expressed his concern to the royal family through the Queen’s private secretary about Diana’s trip to France. “I won’t go into details because it’s been years, but I had serious concerns about what would happen there, but all that is now history,” he said.

“I have to say that the fatal accident would never have happened if seat belts had been worn,” said the former head of the Royal Guard, dismissing any conspiracy theories.
