President Joe Biden will deliver his “Fight for the Soul of the Nation” speech in prime time on Thursday.
Biden will speak at 8 pm from Independence National Historical Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The speech, released Monday, was based on phrases she used during his campaign to challenge then-President Donald Trump.
With the midterm elections just around the corner in early November, it is designed to target pro-Trump “mega-Republicans.”
A senior official in the Biden administration said Thursday: “He will speak about the direct threat to democracy from MAGA Republicans and the extremism that currently threatens our democratic values.
Mr. Biden speaks out against movements that don’t allow free and fair elections, movements that increasingly speak out against violence against behavior they don’t like or agree with. This is not democratic behavior. ‘ the source said.
Officials said it was not “a speech about a particular politician or a particular political party.”
“This is not a speech about a former president. This is a speech about democracy,” the official said.
However, the intent to turn against Trump and his Republican supporters is clear.
Biden needs to explain how America’s position on the world stage and in democracy is threatened. He will represent her administration’s steps to protect America’s freedoms and rights.
Thursday night’s speech marks the third time Biden has been on the battlefield in the last week. Biden advisers believe that Trump’s views on Republicans have made it more likely that Democrats will retain their seats in Congress in November.
Meanwhile, House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy in Biden’s hometown of Scranton denounced the president’s “attack on the soul of the nation.”
Republican National Committee Chair Ronna McDaniel accused Biden of trying to turn Americans against him.
“Joe Biden is the ultimate divider and epitomizes the current state of the Democratic Party,” McDaniel said Thursday.
