Boris Johnson will officially resign on Tuesday, handing over the British Prime Ministership to current Foreign Secretary Liz Truss.
Boris Johnson had a phone call today with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky – his last as Britain’s prime minister – in which he stressed that the Ukrainians can win the war against the Russian invaders and expressed confidence that they will. At the same time, he assured Zelensky that they would stay in touch as friends.
“The Prime Minister spoke in the afternoon with the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to thank him for his leadership and friendship. “The Prime Minister has made it clear that he believes that President Zelensky and his people can and will win the war in Ukraine,” a Downing Street spokesman said. “The prime minister told President Zelensky that he was honored to work with him and support him. The two leaders agreed to remain in close contact as friends,” he added.
