An independent national inquiry into the fatal oligarchy of social welfare services that allowed the torture and murder of 6-year-old Arthur Lambino-Hughes by his mother and father has been announced, the British government has announced.

Little Arthur suffered many months of torture and was eventually brutally murdered in June 2020, in a case that has shocked everyone in Britain and beyond.

The court last week sentenced Emma Tastin’s mother to life in prison, with a minimum sentence of 29 years in prison and 21 years in prison for Tom Hughes’s father.

Over the weekend, it became known that the Attorney General and member of the cabinet Suela Breiberman accepted the suggestions of MPs for reconsideration of the sentences, which were considered lenient.

At the same time, confirmed the Minister of Justice Dominic Raab, the national investigation will examine the lessons from the case of little Arthur, in order to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

An emergency check was also ordered by social welfare and policing services in Solihull, central England, where Arthur lived, whose home had been visited by both social workers and police in the midst of concerns about his condition, but no further action was needed.

On Sunday, crowds gathered 30 meters from the house where the six-year-old lived and was killed, leaving flowers and toys on the street and releasing blue balloons in the sky, the color of his favorite football team, Birmingham.

Over the weekend in many matches of the professional categories of English football, the fans began to applaud in the sixth minute of the matches in memory of little Arthur, whose photo was displayed on the bright boards.

The Birmingham players even wore T-shirts with the message “Arthur, we love you” during the warm-up, while they were photographed with a banner with the same message, a reference to the heartbreaking cry of the little boy “nobody loves me” that was heard on video which was shown at the trial of his killers.
