Syria: Rockets hit the airport in Aleppo

by

This is the second time that this airport has been targeted by Israeli forces within a week.

The airport of Aleppo, in northern Syria, was tonight again the target of Israeli raids, as a result of which the runway was damaged and put out of service, the official news agency Sana reported.

This is the second time that this airport has been targeted by Israeli forces within a week.

“Around 20:16 this evening, the Israeli enemy hit with missiles from the Mediterranean (…) the international airport of Aleppo” putting it out of service, the agency said.

Earlier, Sana reported that the anti-aircraft defense managed to intercept some missiles. Cham Wings airline, the only private Syrian carrier, said all flights scheduled from Aleppo to other destinations would now depart from Damascus.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported “several explosions” near the airport and that the targets of the bombings were warehouses belonging to paramilitary groups close to Iran. These warehouses are on fire after being hit by at least two missiles.
