Russia attacks the power plant after being forced to withdraw on the 200th day of the war.

Ukraine has astonishingly turned 200 days after Russia’s invasion today, prompting Putin’s forces to launch “retaliatory” attacks on civilian infrastructure.

President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the “deliberate and cynical missile attack” on the power plant as an act of terrorism.

“There are no military installations. The only goal is to keep people away from light and heat,” he said.

There has been widespread unrest in Ukraine after a bombing at a power plant on the western outskirts of Kharkov sparked a massive fire that killed at least one person and blamed Russia for attacking the power plant.

This comes after Moscow troops were pushed out of the region this weekend, causing thousands to flee the main city.

The head of the Ukrainian armed forces, General Valery Zalzhny, said his troops had recaptured some 1,160 square miles since they launched a counteroffensive in early September.

Ukrainian forces are now just 30 miles from the Russian border, he said.

But tonight’s attack by Russia was intended to undermine Ukraine’s ability to continue.

Kharkiv, the country’s second-largest city, had no electricity at night, cars drove through darkened streets and few pedestrians used flashlights or mobile phones to light the way.

Separately, the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant in the Russian-occupied south was shut down entirely to prevent a radiation disaster as fighting intensified nearby.

In recent days, Kyiv’s move to retake control of the Kharkov region has prompted Russian forces to withdraw to avoid encirclement.

When the war lasted 200 days on 9/11, they left behind a vast amount of weapons and ammunition.

A battalion has posted video of Ukrainian troops in front of the town hall in Hoptyvka, a town about 12 miles north of Kharkiv and a mile from the border.

Kharkiv Governor Olev Sinievbov announced that Ukrainian forces had regained control of more than 40 settlements in the region.

The Kharkov and Donetsk regions appeared to be under attack during a Russian missile attack on Sunday night.

Kharkiv Mayor Igor Terekhov called the blackout “the revenge of the Russian aggressors for the successes achieved by our troops at the front, especially in the Kharkiv region.”

Ukrainian officials said that Russia had attacked a TEC-5 in Kharkov. It is the second largest thermal power plant in the country, and Zelensky posted a video showing a burning power plant in Kharkov.

“Russian terrorists are still terrorists targeting critical infrastructure,” he tweeted.

Despite the attack, however, Zelensky was defiant. As for Russia, he added: “Do you think you can still bully us, crush us and force us to make concessions?” … Cold, hunger, darkness and thirst are not as terrible and deadly as your “friendship and brotherhood”.

But history puts everything in its place. We have gas, electricity, water, food… and without you.

Power was restored in some areas overnight. There were no outages related to the shutdown of the reactors at the Zaporizhia power plant.

While most of the attention has been focused on the counterattack, Ukrainian nuclear operators have warned that the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe, will be reconnected to the Ukrainian power grid and that engineers will protect the last reactor in operation during the fighting.

One of the 10 largest nuclear power plants in the world, the plant has been occupied by Russian forces since the beginning of the war. Ukraine and Russia have condemned the bombing of the surrounding area.
