by

The detention of the two tankers has been made on the occasion of the seizure of oil by the United States following a judicial request on the tanker Lana which is in the Piraeus anchorage.

The 11 crew members (10 Filipinos and one Greek) of the Greek-owned tanker Delta Poseidon, which is held in the Persian Gulf by the “Revolutionary Guards” together with the Greek-owned tanker “Prudent Warrior”, are returning to Greece today.

The ship’s crew members will be replaced by other crew, mostly foreigners.

The detention of the two tankers has been made on the occasion of the seizure of oil by the United States following a judicial request on the tanker Lana which is in the Piraeus anchorage. It is noted that the oil cargo of Iranian interests after a court decision was returned to the tanker “Lana” under the flag of Iran.

The Minister of Shipping and Insular Policy, Yannis Plakiotakis, in his post on the internet regarding the issue of the return of the crew members, states the following: “After a long and systematic effort by the Greek Government, the Greek sailor of the Delta Poseidon ship has already left for Greece who is known to be held illegally in Iran. Have a safe return.”

It is noted that the Iranian maritime authorities through the Iranian News Agency had announced a long time ago that the crew of the two Greek tankers detained in the Persian Gulf by the “Revolutionary Guards” were not detained, but only the two tankers.

Sources from the Ministry of Shipping said that in the next few days the change of the rest of the crews in Greece will follow, who will be replaced by others who will re-mann the two tankers.

In the Delta Poseidon there were 25 crew members, of which two are Greeks and in the Prudent Warrior 23 crew members, of which 8 are Greeks and one Cypriot.
