Pechorin’s death is the latest in a chain of unsolved deaths of people who held a prominent position in the Russian elite.

A new “accident” of a high-ranking executive of a Russian company and a member of the Russian elite became known in the last few hours. The reason for the 39-year-old Ivan Pechorin, who was killed in Russia under unclear circumstances. Pechorin was the managing director of the Far Eastern and Arctic Development Company (ERDC), and died after reportedly falling from a speedboat off the coast of Vladivostok on Saturday night.

Pechorin’s death is the latest in a chain of unsolved deaths of people who held a prominent position in the Russian elite.

The Far East and Arctic Development Corporation announced his “tragic death” on Monday.

“Ivan’s death is an irreparable loss to friends and colleagues, a great loss to the company,” ERDC said. “We extend our sincere condolences to his family and friends.”

Pravda.ru, a pro-Kremlin news agency, reported that Pechorin and a group of friends were “drunk” when they boarded the boat on Saturday night on Russky Island, near Vladivostok.

Pechorin fell from the forward deck of the boat about 40 minutes into the trip, according to Pravda.ru. His body washed up on Ruski Island on Monday.

Pechorin’s death could be a tragic accident, or a “tragic accident” in quotation marks, opined Rebecca Kofler, former US Defense Intelligence Agency official and author of “Putin’s Playbook: Russia’s Secret Plan to Defeat America.”

“It is entirely plausible that Pechorin fell overboard from the boat because he was drunk. Drinking at parties on boats, swimming in the sea under the influence in the dark — it’s all consistent with how Russian oligarchs have fun… But it also creates a believable showcase,” Kofler told Fox News Digital.

“The truth is unlikely to be revealed, because the Russian investigations are unreliable. If this was a successful assassination, it would look just like a tragic accident” commented.

Pechorin moderated a discussion at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok last Wednesday. On the same day, Vladimir Putin also traveled to Vladivostok to address the Eastern Economic Forum.
