Starr’s investigation led to the impeachment of Bill Clinton in 1998 due to revelations about the Monica Lewinsky scandal and the former US president’s subsequent perjury
Kenneth Starr, the deputy attorney general who relentlessly “chased” then-President Bill Clinton over the Lewinsky pink scandal, died Tuesday at the age of 76, and his death is a front-page topic in American media and social media.
Starr’s investigation led to the impeachment of Bill Clinton in 1998 due to revelations about the Monica Lewinsky scandal and the former US president’s subsequent perjury although the then US president was eventually acquitted by the Senate in 1999.
The Republican prominent jurist in 2020, during Trump’s first impeachment trial, participated in the defense of the former US president.
The rock of the then-global pink scandal and former White House intern, Monica Lewinsky, said the news of Starr’s death left her with “complicated emotions” — after all, he was the man who had irreparably exposed her — but acknowledged that his loss was ” painful’ to those who love him.
as i’m sure many can understand, my thoughts about ken starr bring up complicated feelings… but of more importance, is that i imagine it’s a painful loss for those who love him.
