THE Spanish police announced today that they arrested the head of one of the largest rings for Money laundering in Europewho had links to a Costa del Sol drug gang and used as a showcase the sale of vodka in restaurants.

A police spokesman told Reuters by telephone that John Francis Morrissey, ringleader and head of the Spanish operation, was arrested today. A total of three people were arrested in Spain and one in England, according to police.

The ring was busted during a joint international Europol operation called “Whitewall”police said.

The criminal network was washed away over 200 million euros inside in less than a year and a half, the up to 350,000 euros per dayaccording to the police.

Police said Morrissey had links to the Irish Kinahan gang, a drug-trafficking gang on Spain’s Costa del Sol, and “raised large sums of cash from criminal organizations operating in our country”.
