Why Charles ‘cut’ Harry and Meghan from event before Elizabeth’s funeral

The official event is being held for heads of state, overseas official guests and members of the royal family who are in London ahead of the Queen’s funeral on Monday.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, known as Meghan and Harry, will not attend the official event organized by King Charles on Sunday night, to welcome the heads of state who will attend Queen Elizabeth’s funeral the following day.

Prince Andrew will be absent.

The reason for these absences is the fact that both the Sussexes and Prince Andrew have relinquished their royal duties.

The official event is being held for heads of state, overseas official guests and members of the royal family who are in London ahead of the Queen’s funeral on Monday.

Confirming the absence of Prince Harry, his wife Meghan and Prince Andrew, a Buckingham Palace spokesperson confirmed to Hello magazine that “only members of the Royal Family will be attending”.

It has not yet been revealed what the dress code will be and whether tiaras will be required at this special event.

Meghan and Harry joined the royal family at Westminster Hall.

On Wednesday, Prince Harry and Meghan met with King Charles and other senior members of the royal family in Westminster Hall.
