Hundreds of supporters in green and yellow welcomed President Jair Bolsonaro in front of the Brazilian Embassy in London this Sunday morning. He landed in the city at 8:30 am (4:30 am in Brasília) to attend Queen Elizabeth II’s farewell.
The queen died on Thursday last week at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, her favorite residence, where she spent the three summer months every year. On her death, her son Charles became King of the British.
Bolsonaro will be staying at the embassy, near Hyde Park, and shortly after arriving, he went out on the balcony to speak to supporters. “Our Brazil will be these colors here. Green and yellow”, he said. The crowd responded to chants of “myth”, “Michele” and “Bolsonaro”.
With him came advisor Fabio Wajngarten, pastor Silas Malafaia and his son Eduardo, who went out on the street and took countless photos with supporters.
At 11 am, the group sang the National Anthem. Then he shouted that “our flag will never be red” and “Lula, thief, your place is in prison. Before Bolsonaro arrived, they had prayed the Our Father.
Bolsonaro’s schedule in London boils down to two days. This Sunday at 1:50 pm, he will pay a visit to the Queen’s coffin in Westminster Hall, and at 5:00 pm he will attend a royal reception at Buckingham Palace.
On Monday, the president will attend the funeral at Westminster Abbey. The coffin is due to leave there at 10:44 am (6:44 am in Brasília), with the royal family following on foot, as happened on Wednesday. The event will also be televised.
