7.4-magnitude earthquake hits Mexico – Tsunami warning in 10 countries

“We sincerely hope nothing serious has happened,” Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador tweeted.

According to the US Geological Survey (USGS), the earthquake had a magnitude of 7.6, its epicenter was located 37 kilometers southeast of the city of Aquia.

Due to the magnitude of the earthquake, the US Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami warning of 1-3 meters on the Mexican coast and for a smaller one (up to 0.3 m) on the coasts of Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras , Nicaragua, Panama and Peru.

Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum said no major property damage had been reported in the city from the Enceladus strike, which occurred on the same date as the deadly 1985 and 2017 earthquakes.

About 5,000 people had lost their lives since the September 19, 1985 earthquake, and more than 350 people were killed in the 2017 Mexico earthquake.
