“The Mexican president has offered to increase our cooperation on liquefied natural gas,” the German president said. He did not want to go into details.

As gas supplies from Russia to Germany and other European countries have dwindled in recent months — with both sides blaming each other — electricity prices have soared on the Old Continent and governments are scrambling to find alternative sources of supply. for heating and for industrial use.

Although it is significantly more expensive than gas transported through pipelines, demand for LNG has increased dramatically.

Mexico does not export LNG, however it is one of the largest oil exporting countries in Latin America.
