“All this will lead to a huge tragedy and a huge death toll,” said the Kremlin’s number one opponent.

The partial mobilization announced by the president of Russia, Vladimir Putinwill lead to “a huge tragedy,” warned jailed dissident Alexei Navalny.

“All this will lead to a huge tragedy and a huge death toll,” the Kremlin’s number one opponent said during a hearing in one of the many lawsuits against him, according to a video released by Russian media.

Earlier today, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared a partial mobilization in Russia, citing threats from NATO. In fact, Putin claimed that Moscow’s intention is to use all means at its disposal to protect itself.

In his speech, Putin said Washington was pressuring Kyiv to transfer hostilities to the territory of the Russian Federation, while adding that nuclear blackmail was being used, without elaborating.

“We have plenty of weapons to respond and this is not a bluff,” he pointed out.

The Russian Defense Minister, Sergei Shoigu said that the presidential decree for partial conscription provides for mobilization an additional 300,000 men to participate in the military operation, as Moscow calls it, in Ukraine.

In an interview on Russian state television, Shoigu clarified that students and those who served as draftees would not be conscripted, and that the majority of Russian reservists, who number one million, would also not be conscripted.

It concerns as he said men who have previous military training, but in any case before they are deployed they will receive military training.
