A cap on the wholesale energy purchase price that businesses are charged at United Kingdom will be imposed by the British government, so that they pay “less than half” of the price expected to be established in the winter.

The announcement is part of the Energy Bill Relief Program announced on Wednesday, which offers discounts to all businesses for six months from October 1.

Hospitals, schools, temples, community centers and other social structures and organizations will also benefit from the program.

The business relief program follows the presentation by the Prime Minister Liz Trussjust days after leading the country on a £150 billion package to freeze household energy bills for two years at levels slightly higher than today.

The new package for businesses was dictated by the fears of bankruptcies and job losses in all areas, due to energy accuracy.

The scheme covers fixed fee contracts signed from 1 April and variable fee contracts.

The Ministry of Business, Energy and Industry has not determined the total cost of the new support package, as it will depend on the level of wholesale prices in the October-April period.

The plan provides six-month price freeze which businesses will pay at 211 pounds (242 euros) per megawatt hour for electricity and 75 pounds (86 euros) per megawatt hour for natural gas.

In some cases of variable charge contracts, the discount will be 405 pounds (463 euros) per megawatt hour for electricity and 115 pounds (132 euros) per megawatt hour for natural gas.

Businesses do not need to contact their providers, as the discount will be automatically transferred to the accounts.

Ms Truss, from New York where she is for the United Nations General Assembly, said the government “he understood the enormous pressure businesses, aid organizations and public sector organizations face with their energy bills.”

Therefore, he added, “as help was offered to consumers, so from October 1 businesses will also be supported”.

The Minister of Finance Quasi Kwarteng commented that the measure “will prevent businesses from collapsing, protect jobs and curb inflation”.

It is noted that the new program primarily concerns Englandthe Scotland and Walesbut a suitable program with the same criteria will work in North Ireland.
