German FAZ: 6v Alliance Against Erdogan – How They Would Win From Round 1

by

The German newspaper’s analysis of the upcoming Turkish elections.

“United against Erdogan”. This is the title of her article Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitungwhich refers to the upcoming elections in turkey, where six opposition parties have formed an alliance to defeat the Turkish president Tayyip Erdogan, without, however, including the pro-Kurdish party (HDP). The article sees things from the “point of view” of the HDP and hosts the statements of the co-chairman of the party, Mithat Shankar.

“According to opinion polls, all seven opposition parties would gather more than 60%” the columnist says.

“So they could beat Erdogan from the first round of the election. Municipal elections in Turkey in the spring of 2019 showed that Erdogan, who has been in power since 2002, is no longer invincible. Without the HDP, however, a change of power would be very difficult, says the party president. But the HDP is threatened with a ban, the process is pending in the Constitutional Court. But Shankar does not seem impressed. His party is determined to participate in the elections”.
