Di Maio, a former leader of the populist 5 Star Movement (M5S) who left M5S to form the IC (Personal Commitment – also known as Together for the Future – IpF) party in June, has garnered 24.3% of the vote in 403 out of 440 electoral divisions of the electoral district of Naples Fuorigrota where in 2018 he was elected with a large majority.

Di Maio’s party fails to enter parliament with less than 1% of the vote.

The M5S candidate, former Minister of the Environment Sergio Costa, has a clear lead with 40.5% of the vote so far.

The center-right candidate Maria Rossi comes third with 22.2%, while the candidate of the Italian centrist party Azione, Mara Carfania, comes fourth with 6.7%.

The coalition of Meloni, Salvini and Berlusconi parties gathers about 43% of the votes and is expected to secure an absolute majority of seats, both in the House and in the Senate.
