#Hashtag: On the networks, bolsonaristas celebrate Meloni’s victory and call her ‘Italian Bolsonaro’

The partial count of the parliamentary elections that took place in Italy this Sunday (25) suggests that candidate Giorgia Meloni, from the Italian Brothers acronym, is the likely indication of her coalition to the post of prime minister of the country. Meloni would be the first woman to lead the country, as well as representing the return of the extreme right to Italian power since World War II.

Meloni, who already said in a video in 1996 that the fascist Benito Mussolini was a good politician, has a conservative speech. The motto “God, homeland and family” endorsed by her generates identification with groups of similar ideas in other countries, which now celebrate her advancement.

Among the supporters, federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro (PL-SP), in Brazil, was one of the first to congratulate her after the investigation. The deputy also highlighted the discursive similarity between Meloni and her father, President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), and criticized the Brazilian press.

Now bolsonaristas celebrate Giorgia on social media and profiles call her “Bolsonara Italiana”. the “LGBT lobby” and “gender ideology”, among other traditional positions.

Another profile also suggests that Bolsonaro is the beacon of the right in the world, ending a tweet with the hashtag “Bolsonaro in the first round 22”.

On the other hand, other tweeters criticize the candidate, pointing out fascist characteristics of the slogan used by the Bolsonaro government, the Italian government and the coalition to which it belongs.
