Blinken: The fake referendums were held to cover up the seizure of Ukrainian territories

Tomorrow Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to announce the annexation of four Ukrainian regions — Donetsk and Luhansk (east), Kherson and Zaporizhia (south) — which Kyiv and the West have condemned.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken today condemned the referendums on the annexation of Ukrainian regions into the Russian Federation as an attempt at a “territory grab”.

“This mock referendum orchestrated by the Kremlin is just a futile attempt to cover up what amounts to yet another attempt to grab territory from Ukraine,” the head of US diplomacy said, adding: “To be clear: the results were orchestrated by Russia and do not reflect the will of the Ukrainian people.”
