Trump Sues CNN for Defamation – Seeks $475M in Damages

A lawsuit for defamation was filed by Donald Trump at the expense of the network CNNseeking $475 million in damages.

In the lawsuit filed in a federal court in Florida, the former US president claims that the US news network has recently escalated a smear campaign against him because it fears he will be a candidate in the 2024 presidential election.

CNN has attempted to smear Trump “with a series of increasingly outrageous, false and defamatory labels, including ‘racist’, ‘Russian lackey’, ‘insurgent’ and most recently ‘Hitler,'” according to the former president’s lawyers. US in the lawsuit filed in federal court in Fort Lauderdale.

“Beyond simply highlighting any negative information about plaintiff and ignoring all positive information about him, CNN sought to use its mass influence—supposedly a ‘trusted’ news source—to discredit plaintiff in the mind of its viewers and readers,” the lawsuit also states.

CNN, for its part, declined to comment on the case.
