Mysterious death of a conscript in a military unit in Russia

A conscript from Krasnoyarsk, whose name is Dmitry (his last name is not specified), died in a military unit in the city of Omsk under unclear circumstances, the websites NGS24.ru and NGS55.ru reported, citing their own sources as well as the office of the forensic service of Omsk, writes the newspaper Novaya Gazeta.Europe.

“He was already taken from the morgue by the employees of the funeral home. We have given permission for his transfer, which means that he will be sent to Krasnoyarsk,” the operational department of records of the forensic service reported.

The wife of the deceased soldier was informed on October 2. The websites claim that she was called by the military unit and told that an investigation was underway into the incident.

It is also reported that a close friend of the deceased, who was conscripted at the same time, stated that he and other conscripts had received threats in connection with the war.

“We suspect that he did not end his life, because Dmitry had no suicidal tendencies, he had not made any attempts. He has two young children. When he left, he was in a good mood and said he would come back alive and healthy,” said the wife of a friend of Dmitri’s from Krasnoyarsk with whom he enlisted together and was in the same unit.

Dmitry’s friend after the incident was sent for medical examinations, the websites write. As his wife claims, neither alcohol nor drugs were found in her husband’s system, while after the tests he was transferred to another unit.

Regarding the deceased soldier, “the results of the autopsy will be ready after a month and a half, while the Commission of Inquiry will give the relatives a copy of the report,” the forensic service said.

Yesterday it was announced that three more conscripts died in the military unit in the settlement of Parosino in the Sverdlovsk region.
