USA: Trump appeals to the Supreme Court over the seized classified documents

Former US President Donald Trump on Tuesday asked the country’s Supreme Court to intervene in his dispute with the Justice Department over classified documents seized from his Florida mansion.

FBI agents seized about 11,000 documents from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago mansion on Aug. 8 as part of a criminal investigation into the former president’s handling of government records.

Donald Trump filed an emergency motion with the Supreme Court seeking to block an appeals court ruling that prevented an independent judge from reviewing more than 100 classified documents before the federal investigation moved forward.

The Atlanta-based appeals court on Sept. 21 overturned a ruling by U.S. District Judge Eileen Cannon that prevented the federal investigation from going forward before the classified documents were reviewed by independent Judge Raymond Deary, who would rule on whether certain records should remain. outside the jurisdiction of the researchers.
