Google honors her with today’s doodle World Teachers’ Day 2022.

This day, also known as International Teachers’ Day, is celebrated every year on October 5.

Her celebration established in 1994 to commemorate the free teaching signed in 1966 through the UNESCO/ILO Recommendation on the Status of Teachers, which addresses the status and conditions of teachers around the world.

This Recommendation outlines standards for teacher policy, recruitment and training as well as lifelong learning, employment and working conditions.

World Teachers’ Day 2022 aims to focus on “appreciating, evaluating and improving all the world’s teachers” and providing an opportunity to consider issues related to teachers and teaching.

To mark World Teachers’ Day 2022, UNESCO and the International Organization for Education are running a campaign to give the world a better knowledge of teachers and the role they play in the development of students and society. They work with the private sector such as the media to make this happen. This campaign focuses on a different theme each year.

UNESCO states that:

“Everyone can help celebrate this profession by raising awareness of teaching issues and by ensuring that respect for teachers is part of the natural order of things. Schools and students, for example, prepare an event in honor of teachers for this day”

More than 100 countries celebrate World Teachers’ Day and each country has its own events like in the case of India, which celebrates Teachers’ Day on September 5.
