They have gone on a new 24-hour strike since Wednesday morning British railway workers demanding higher pay rises and better working conditions.
Already this year there have been several strikes by transport workers’ unions, who say galloping inflation is creating the need for higher rises.
Today’s mobilization involves approx 9,000 drivers of the union Aslef (Cooperative Union of Carriage Engineers and Firemen) employed by 13 railway companies.
Most of these companies will not operate any services today on their part of the national network, while some will operate “very limited services” on some routes.
The members of the Transport Salaried Employees Association (TSSA union) also participate in today’s strike, who have announced the continuation of the mobilizations every day until Saturday.
On Saturday, the members of the largest union in the transport sector, the RMT (Union of Rail, Maritime and Other Transports), will hold a new national strike, which is expected to lead to the paralysis of transport in the country.
