“In terms of energy, things are moving,” Mario Draghi pointed out

The Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, in his brief statements from the Praguehe emphasized that as far as the Ukrainian, at the informal meeting of the European leaders there was great unity, with the support of Kiev from all the three member countries of the Union. At the same time, he added that substantial interest had arisen for her conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine, which is to be organized in Germany, and that many countries have expressed their strong concern about the growing Russian propaganda, which is trying to influence European citizens.

“As for her energy, things move. The European Commission will present at the European Summit on October 20, a proposal in which will contain three items: making an effort with the aim of reducing prices, introducing an element of solidarity in the whole mechanism and starting the process of reforming the energy market”, underlined the Italian technocrat prime minister.

Asked about the need to adopt a tool that allows the creation of common European debt, on addressing the cost of the energy crisis, Mario Draghi responded:

“I share the proposal made by Gentiloni and Breton. I too had made a similar proposal five months ago, it is a reasonable proposal, especially after Germany’s decision. It is necessary to put all countries on the same level, both those with fiscal margin and those without it.”

Finally, responding to a question from an Italian envoy if he registered concern, on the part of some European leaders, regarding a possible “case Italy”, the former ECB governor emphasized: “no, there is no concern. Certainly, there is curiosity, as there is when such a major change of government and policy takes place, but there is no concern. I found a great respect for the choices of the Italians, as well as an interest in how the political line of the new government will develop. Something that is not easy for anyone to answer. In some matters, however, such as with regard to foreign policy choices, if one looks back at the decisions made in the past, the whole line should not change.”
