After the presidential debate on TV Globo, the name of Father Kelmon (PTB) began to make a lot of buzz on social media. He was called a “festival priest” by the candidate Soraya Thronicke (União Brasil), confused with singer Jorge Aragão by internet users and some of his speeches went viral on the internet.
The latest joke is his resemblance to one of the members of the forró band Carrapicho, which was relatively successful in the 1990s with the song “Bate Forte o Tambor”.
In images that fell on the networks, it is possible to see that one of the members of the group bears a certain resemblance to Kelmon, which was enough for him to be appointed as the band’s dancer, something he never confirmed. Even the Wikipedia entry was changed as if he were a musician, but then he went back to normal.
“On TikTok, I find out that Father Kelmon, in the 1990s, was a dancer in the band Carrapicho”, joked one. “What the hell to live in a time when I don’t know if the story of Father Kelmon being a dancer in the band Carrapicho is true or a lie”, joked another.
In addition to this joke, others have taken over the web. Celebrities have already compared Kelmon to Father Adelir de Carli who died after flying attached to colorful balloons in April 2008. “Socoooooorro, the priest is back!!! The balloon is rising, the drizzle is falling!”, tweeted actress Heloisa Périssé. “And we thought that the dumbest priest in Brazil had flown with balloons,” commented comedian Paulo Vieira after the Globo debate.
In the last week, a netizen had already shared another question with Kelmon. He was surprised to discover that the candidate was the same age as actor Andrew Scott, who played the priest in the series “Fleabag”. In the plot, the protagonist played by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, 37, ends up falling in love with the handsome religious man, without being reciprocated.
According to Google’s record, both Kelmon and Scott were born on October 21, 1976, and the candidate is from the Bahian municipality of Acajutiba, while the actor was born in Dublin, Ireland. Both would be 45 years old.
