According to the Copenhagen police, it is one 32 year old Iranian who “infiltrated the embassy compound, holding a knife”. An embassy worker saw him before he could reach the building.
Iran’s foreign ministry has denounced the Danish authorities for what it says were too late to intervene. “It is sad that in the heart of Europe such an attack took place against a woman and an ambassador who has diplomatic immunity and the police were not on the scene in time,” he said. According to Al-Alam TV channel, the ministry summoned the Danish ambassador in Tehran to deliver a protest note.
The suspect will be brought before a judge tomorrow. The police said that after this incident they “took the necessary security measures” for the embassy and its employees.
