The Russian security service FSB claimed today that since early October there has been a “significant increase” in Ukrainian attacks on Russian territory bordering Ukraine, in which one person was killed and five others were injured.

“Since the beginning of October, the number of attacks by Ukrainian units against Russian border territories has increased significantly,” said the FSB, which is also responsible for border control.

According to the Russian service, these attacks mainly concern the Belgorod region, which borders the Kharkiv region, where Ukrainian forces have recaptured thousands of square kilometers of territory in the last 40 days, reaching the border. The Bryansk and Kursk regions were also targeted, again according to the FSB.

“In the past week, more than 100 bombings were recorded in 32 communities, using the multiple launch system of rockets, artillery, mortars and drones”, the announcement continues. One resident was killed and five were injured, including a child. They were also destroyed two power plantseleven residences and two administrative buildings while eight border posts were damaged.

On September 12, the shelling of a Russian border post killed one person and injured four others, while houses and power lines were damaged. In July the Russian military blamed the Kyiv that it fired three missiles at the city of Belgorod, the capital of the administrative region of the same name. In April, an oil depot was attacked by Ukrainian helicopters, according to Moscow.
