“What Italian or Albanian are you, if you always align yourself with the law?” Rama said

Speaking at a conference held in Bergamo, northern Italy, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama revealed an unknown story, which concerns the management of the first phase of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Together with the Italian foreign minister, we set up a kind of smuggling of vaccines against the coronavirus,” Rama said, then explained: “I am an Italian-Albanian, Di Maio is a Neapolitan-Albanian. Together we organized a smuggling operation. What kind of Italian or Albanian are you, if you always align yourself with the law?”

The Albanian prime minister referred to “the first period of the pandemic, when his country did not have any vaccine and people were afraid that they would die like fish out of water.”

“We needed a small but for us significant number of vaccines to start protecting doctors and nurses. Pfizer had a capitalist, imperialist contract: I give you the vaccines, but you can’t give them to anyone. Which was anything but Christian,” Rama added.

He explained that eventually Italy gave a number of covid-19 vaccines to his country “through a secret service operation” and that “it was really something incredible because the Albanian prime minister and the Italian foreign minister went on a smuggling operation to save human lives”.

“When we donated the preparations and the pharmaceutical industry asked us who had given them to us, we answered ‘a friendly country.’

When they insisted we added: “you know, we learned from the Neapolitans that you should never abandon your friend when he is facing the police and I, exactly, do not abandon my friends,” the Albanian prime minister emphasized.
