The OSCE condemns the “horror” of Russia’s missile strikes

“These reprehensible military actions represent a complete disregard and violation of international law, including (international) humanitarian law,” said a press release of the OSCE leadership released Monday evening.

The leadership of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) called yesterday’s fierce Russian missile strikes against the infrastructure of several Ukrainian cities “terrorism” against the civilian population.

“These reprehensible military actions represent a complete disregard and violation of international law, including (international) humanitarian law,” said a press release of the OSCE leadership released Monday evening.

“The sole reason behind these barbaric and inhuman acts is to spread terror, as well as overcompensation for Russia’s failures to achieve tactical and strategic goals,” reads the text, co-signed by the Polish foreign minister and president to the OSCE Zbigniew Rau and the German Secretary General of the OSCE Helga Maria Schmitt.

Russia is one of the 57 member states of the Organization.

Since 2014, the Vienna-based international organization has been overseeing a fragile ceasefire between pro-Russian separatists and the Ukrainian army in eastern Ukraine. After the Russian military invasion began on February 24, the OSCE observer mission withdrew.
