The United States welcomes the historic agreement reached between Israel and Lebanon on the delimitation of maritime jurisdictional zones.
A message with multiple recipients appeared to be sent by Joe Biden on Tuesday on the occasion of historical agreement which was reached between him Israel and Lebanon for the delimitation of maritime jurisdictional zones.
As US President Joe Biden emphasized in the announcement of the White House, “energy – especially in Eastern Mediterranean – it should serve as an instrument of cooperation, stability, security and prosperity and not as an instrument of conflict.”
Continuing, he also referred to role of the US, saying that after several months of mediation, the governments of Israel and Lebanon have agreed to formally end their maritime border dispute.
As he added, “the agreement announced by the two governments foresees the development of energy fields for the benefit of both countries, creating the foundations for a more stable and prosperous region and harnessing new vital energy resources for the planet. It is now critical that all parties keep their commitments and work towards its implementation. The agreement also protects Israel’s security and economic interests that are critical to promoting regional integration. It provides Lebanon with the possibility to begin the exploitation of energy resources”.
It promotes, the American president emphasized, the interests of the United States and the American people in a more stable, prosperous and integrated Middle East region, with reduced risks of new conflicts”.
