“I wonder where they were the complaints when Meta legitimized incitement to murder and violence against de facto Russians by refusing to remove and moderate such posts and calling them a “deviation from Facebook’s rules?” asks Zakharova in her post.
“In light of the events with Kanye West, I would like to once again raise the issue of the hundreds and thousands of Russophobic and misanthropic references that appear every day on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook with the full consent of these online platforms” he notes the Russian official.
“According to a study, more than 141.5 thousand anti-Russian posts and comments appeared on the English-speaking part of the Internet in the first six months alone. Why haven’t these posts been deleted?’ he wonders.
It is noted that the Russian Federal Financial Supervision Authority (Rosfinmonitoring) added Zuckerberg’s American group Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) to the list of “extremist and terrorist” organizations, Russian news agency Interfax reported on Tuesday.
In June a Moscow court rejected an appeal by Meta after it was found guilty of “extremist activity” in Russia in March. A spokesman for the American social networking group stressed that Meta does not conduct “extremist activity” and that it stands against Russophobia.
