Germany: Almost half of Eurowings flights are canceled due to pilot strike

In Dusseldorf, 100 of the company’s 170 scheduled flights were canceled today

Serious problems are observed in the airports of Germany and especially in Dusseldorf as the strikes of the pilots of the airline company Eurowings have caused many flight cancellations.

The pilots of Lufthansa’s subsidiary, Eurowings, started this morning three-day strikedemanding better working conditions and wage increases.

The company, which has criticized the strike as disproportionate, announced that, according to its estimates, it will manage to implement at least half of its flight schedule this three days. On the other hand, the “Cockpit” pilots’ union justified the strike, citing an “insufficient” offer from the employers for the collective wage agreement that is being negotiated. It is the second strike by Eurowings pilots in two weeks.
