“The situation in the area of the Special Military Operation can be described as tense,” he said in an interview with state-run Rossiya-24 television. “The enemy is constantly trying to attack the positions of Russian soldiers,” continued Surovikin, who took over as head of operations ten days ago. As he said, such attacks occur mainly “in the areas of Kupyansk, Liman and Mykolayiv-Krivii Rykh”.
Surovikin announced that the Russian army is preparing to evacuate the city of Kherson, the capital of the Kherson province.

The Russian-appointed commander of Kherson confirmed soon after that “certain citizens” will be removed, invoking the “danger” of an attack by Ukrainian forces. Surovikin also asserted that “the Ukrainian regime is attempting to break our defenses” by mobilizing “all its reserves” for this counterattack. “We do not rule out making a very difficult decision,” he concluded.
