Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson – who was succeeded by Liz Truss in September – is expected to run in the Conservative Party leadership race to replace Liz Truss, who resigned today, the Times reported.

“He’s sniping but is said to think it’s a matter of national interest,” The Times political editor Stephen Swinford said on Twitter.

Truss, aged 47, was elected to replace Boris Johnson in a popular vote among Conservative party members with 81,326 votes to 60,399 for her rival Rishi Sunak.

On September 6, he officially became prime minister after receiving the mandate to form a government from Queen Elizabeth II, two days before she passed away.
