In a video posted on social media by her family, 14-year-old Guo Jingjing can be seen shivering with a fever without any attention being paid to her. The family appeals for help and for those responsible to take responsibility.
According to her family, the 14-year-old developed a fever two days before being transferred, last Friday, to a quarantine center in Ruzhou City in Henan Province.

On Sunday, she had started “having convulsions, becoming dehydrated and shivering,” she said in a video uploaded to Douyin, China’s local version of TikTok.
“The health center workers didn’t take care of her, nobody even bothered,” she said in the video, which was widely shared before being taken down by party censors in some areas.
“I am asking the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Disciplinary Commission to come and investigate the negligence of the Ruzu government… and give back my daughter’s life!” she said in the video showing him next to her body.
Guo’s video – and another video posted on social media by Jingjing’s aunt demanding justice – have been increasingly censored over the past 48 hours.
According to the BBC, the condition of the 14-year-old’s health worsened further on Monday afternoon, so she was taken to hospital. But it was too late. The girl’s health was irreversible.
The 14-year-old’s death sparked a wave of online outrage at Chinese President Xi Jinping and his government’s unpopular coronavirus policies.
“I’m outraged. Why didn’t they give her a pill?’ wrote one user with a second commenting that “it’s always been this way (in China), nothing will ever change.”
